Minimum Bill

A required minimum bill is due on newly set meters for a period of 1 year from date of set even if a meter is not in service.  It is up to the customer to contact our office after one year to stop billing.

Meter Placement

All water meter boxes will be set at ground level.  Any earth movement which will require raising or lowering of boxes will require additional charges.  Meter must be kept accessible to Southeastern Water at all times.

Check Valve

Please be advised that when the water service for your property is installed, the meter will contain a double check valve.  The purpose of the check valve is to prevent water that has passed through the meter from re-entering the distribution system in an event that a pressure loss is encountered on the main.  This valve therefore protects the integrity and purity of the district’s distribution system by not allowing each property owners water to re-enter the system during such a failure

Water meters must be left accessible to Southeastern Water at all times for reading and billing purposes.  A separate shut off valve should be placed on the customer side of meter for customer use.   Meter box valves are for southeastern water use only.   There is a charge if these valves are broken.

Suggestions for service lines from the meter to your residence.

  1. Service line should be at least 30 inches deep.  The first six inches of cover should be rock free.
  2. Minimum 3/4 inch inside diameter service line shall be used with minimum of 200 PSI pressure rating
  3. A cut off valve shall be installed for your service line in case of a leak, or for any other reason.  The valve should be located between the meter and the first point of usage.  For no reason should the customer turn the water off or on at the meter.  If you detect a problem with your meter, you should contact our office.
  4. The customer must install a pressure surge tank near the hot water heater in case of expansion due to the hot water tank being set to hot.
